Articles aboutFund Democracy: Archives Vern Hayden, Ex-SEC Official an Effective New Voice for Fund Owners, TheStreet.com (Oct. 4, 2000) Abstract: In this commentary, Mr. Hayden discusses Fund Democracy's lead role in the portfolio disclosure initiative, the upcoming Toward Truth in Mutual Fund Investing Symposium, and Fund Democracy's view of the effectiveness of fund directors. Regarding the Symposium, Mr. Hayden says: "the significance of this event cannot be underestimated. . . . This could easily become a groundbreaking event for the mutual-fund shareholder." Mr. Hayden describes Mercer Bullard's background as a securities lawyer and former SEC official as giving him the "background and credibility to be an effective advocate for mutual-fund shareholders.
